Take advantage of quiet streets in the early hours to go and visit the 12 artworks at the 12 different locations.

Throughout the Festival: Sculpture as a Communication Tool in the Fight against HIV/AIDS, at Lilian Mary Nabulime’s container outside Kampala International University.

Throughout the festival, come and interact with the work of Lilian Mary Nabulime. Nabulime uses animated and interactive sculptures to open up sensitive dialogues to do with HIV/AIDS.

Interact with Ronex’s unique artwork by making your own posters, communicating what you think about your city, Kampala.

3:00 PM: In Conversation with Emma Wolukau-Wanambwa at Makerere Art Gallery

Join KLA ART artist, Emma Wolukau – Wanambwa at Makerere Univeristy to hear more about the ideas and inspirations behind her container project.

3:00 PM: Daily Fashion Show with Sanaa Gateja at his container in Kimathi Avenue

Showcasing Sanaa’s beaded outfits and accessories, four models will parade the top of his container accompanied by music. Join us for this unique, surreal and exciting event.

7:30 PM: Art Film at Amakula (Rubaga): Sunny Side of Sex (Sunny Bergman, 2011)

Visionary Africa – Art at Work in Harare and Kampala: A presentation of backgrounds and experiences by Raphael Chikukwa, curator National Gallery of Zimbabwe.

7:30 PM: Art Film at MishMash: The Artist (Michel Hazanavicius, 2012)

Outside a movie premiere, enthusiastic fan Peppy Miller literally bumps into the swashbuckling hero of the silent film, George Valentin. As Peppy slowly rises through the industry, the introduction of talking-pictures turns Valentin’s world upside-down.

A panel discussion and a chance to meet KLA ART 012’s International Jury. Hear about the artist residency awards, explore and discuss art festivals in African cities and analysis the KLA ART 012 project itself. Free drinks!

7:30 PM: Art Film at THE HUB (Kamwokya): Herb & Dorothy (Megumi Sasaki, 2008)

He was a postal clerk. She was a librarian. With their modest means, the couple managed to build one of the most important contemporary art collections in history. Meet Herb and Dorothy Vogel, whose shared passion and discipline have defied stereotypes and redefined what it means to be an art collector.

7:30 PM: Art Film at MishMash: Exit Through the Gift Shop (Banksy)

The film tells the story of Thierry Guetta, a French immigrant in Los Angeles, and his obsession with street art. The film charts Guetta’s constant documenting of his every waking moment on film, from a chance encounter with his cousin, the artist Invader, to his introduction to a host of street artists with a focus on Shepard Fairey and Banksy, whose anonymity is preserved by obscuring his face and altering his voice, to Guetta’s eventual fame as a street artist himself.

Saturday 13 October

This Saturday at the Goethe Zentrum you can join in on Eric Mukalazi’s wire sculpture workshop. Come and make your own super hero figures, while raising money for O.C.A.T children’s home.

As well as an artist,  Rugnazu Bruno is the organiser of these inspiring TED X talks. Come to this engaging event to listen and share your views on recylcing in Kampala.

7:30 PM: Art Film at Amakula (Rubaga): Wasteland (Vik Muniz, 2010)

An uplifting feature documentary highlighting the transformative power of art and the beauty of the human spirit…

8:00 PM: Music Night at Xenson’s container at the Railway Station

Join Xenson for a free live music jam session at his container. All welcome.

6:00 PM: KLA ART 012 Closing Ceremony at Goethe Zentrum-Kampala/Alliance Française, Mackinnon Rd (until 8 PM)

Closing ceremony, prize giving and a celebration of KLA ART 012. All welcome!
